5 Ways to Spot a Fake "Organic" Honey Label

We recently discussed the difference between Organic and Raw honey. Unfortunately, the word "Organic" is frequently misused by marketers to justify a higher price tag. If you are shopping for premium honey in Surat, here are 5 red flags that the label might be misleading.

1. No Certification Logo

If a brand claims to be organic but does not display a recognized government organic certification logo (like Jaivik Bharat in India), the claim is legally meaningless.

2. Vague Sourcing Details

True organic honey requires bees to forage in a 5km pesticide-free radius. If the label says "Product of Multiple Countries," it is mass-produced commercial honey, not carefully sourced organic.

3. Pasteurized Despite the Label

Check the fine print. If the honey claims to be organic but also states it is pasteurized, you are losing all the health benefits. You want honey that is strictly raw and unheated.

4. Incredibly Cheap Price

Maintaining pesticide-free environments and rigorous lab testing is expensive. If the "organic" honey is suspiciously cheap, it is likely adulterated. Always look for brands that provide transparent lab testing.
